Summer is a busy time for teachers, several teachers in both the elementary and highschool attended workshops to develop new ideas and curriculum all for the benefit of the students at Pawnee City School.

Some of the highlights from the summer in-services included a training on problem solving focusing on strategies to help students be more successful with math. Attending this workshop were Brooke Pralle, Deb Niss, Jane Taylor, and Angela Schmit. Mary Moser and Tami Gaede attended training for the new Health Career Academy which will build on current science curriculum to expose students to a variety of career options available in the the area of health and science. Along the same ideas was a 21st Century Energy Education workshop developed by Nebraska Public Power District to infuse energy related careers into current science curriculum. This was attended by Mary Moser.

Technology is alway changing and advancing, several teachers attended workshops to find new and innovative ways to incorporate more technology into their classrooms. Angela Schmit and Jane Taylor attended a training developed to assist teachers by using free internet resources compiled on the Hippocampus website to add to their curriculum. Carol Schmitz and Lori Gyhra attended a Google Applications training. Google is not just a search engine, it has a lot of useful applications that will benefit the students and enhance their learning through collaboration and networking.

  teachers at workshop Every year Pawnee City School sends a team of teachers to Data Retreat. this year the team consisted of Deb Niss, Jane Taylor, Angela Schmit, Tyler Ferebee, and Brooke Pralle, the team analyzed data from the district to find areas of success and areas that need more focus. This information will be shared with the staff to develop school improvement goals for the next school year. The teachers at Pawnee City continue to be involved with the Nebraska Department of Education improving the state standards and assessments used to measure the success. This summer Cindy Myers assisted with the revising of the language arts assessments.

This is just a sample of the commitment the teachers at Pawnee City School have to their students. Each one strives to enhance the educational experience by continuing to learn and grow. From classroom teacher to coach, support staff to office managers the summer is a busy, productive time to ensure a "maximum educational experience " at Pawnee City Public School.
